I love Sulky

Well, I am back after a intense Sulky Course.  We travelled to Toronto on Monday with a lot of traffic right from Kingston on the 401.  After a couple of stops we arrived at the hotel Delta Markham about 4:00.  We had to be in the classroom before 8:30 as the teacher Ellen Osten starts promptly at 8:30 and we have to be ready to sew at 8:30.  We stopped for lunch and dinner not a full two hours and back at it for 7:00 and we have to quit at 9:00.  (I actually stopped at 8:00)  Wednesday you ask was exactly the same.  Oh yea Thursday the same with the exception of quitting at 5:30 and getting to leave Toronto by 6:00.  You ask did I pass of course I have my certicate to prove it.  I will be hosting a Sulky event in the very near future and I will let everyone know as soon as Margaret and I get some dates.  We will be hosting a evening session and a Saturday session.  I have to get caught up with email, service and etc. I hope to be caught up by Saturday at close.  Wish me good luck.  I do plan on having some pictures post very soon so everyone can see how much fun we had.  Talk to everyone soon.  Debbi

Trying to get caught up

We spent the weekend at the trailer as I had Friday and Saturday off.  The weather was great and a good time was had by all.  Chicken & Ribs dinner on Friday with some friends and family made for a great Canada Day.  I spent 4 or 5 hours (not all together) sewing on Saturday what fun I had.  With the house up for sale again and more stuff pack I am  really missing my stuff.  I finished some roll up placemats what fun.  It is already Wednesday night and I have not got much done this week on my samples for the fall.  I have to get cracken.  We are planning an exciting Fall with Smith Street Designs Quilt block of the month, more recipes (this time they contain chocolate each month yummy), jacket class, more 5D classes, Debbi's Discoveries and I am sure that there is more in this brain of mine.  I wish that I have a on/off switch for the brain.  Well it is only 9:50 and I am falling asleep I better go.  Debbi

Oh you should see the designs

You gotta see the design packages Margaret and I picked out.  I need to get them on my computer to start stitching them out.  They are fabulous.  Don't bug me today it's a stitchingday.  (Only kidding.  Lots of bugs are welcomed.)  We have only listed the house on Monday night and we had our first showing with the new agent already (Tuesday night no offers yet but the feedback was positive and the clients are seriously thinking about it).   In the next few weeks I am going to be stitching galore and hopefully posting pictures and getting ready for my Sulky class in July.  I am so looking forward to the class.  To will e excited to hear what Carolyn and I have up our sleeve for the Fall, a hint Debbi's Discoveries.  More to follow.

Well we did it

Well the papers are signed, the sign will be going up in a day or so.  Clean than clean again everyday or every morning hopefully with the changes, our agent used, (what a transformation in the basement) the house will not be long in selling this time.  So I will let you know if it has paid off.  I updated Mary Anne 5D and guess what it worked.  On to more laptops.  I have decided to change my blog a little in the next coming weeks, I was sent a link to a blog and I thought it was terrific.  She had a sewing machine as a picture and had some instructions on an embroidered hand towel with a tab (which is why I checked out the blog in the first place).  I will be asking people to let me know what they think of my changes.  Now that I don't live in my house I will need to be busy.  Oh I did forget to mention that there is a higher power might not wanting us to sell this house.  Monday morning Tim had asked Brian, our son to stop by and cut the grass in the front.  Brian had just finished working 3 twelve hour night shifts and he was here at 8:00 a.m.  Brian pulled the lawn mower cord to start the mower when the handle fell off.  He came in found a screw driver and fixed the handle, not perfect as it fell off again.  Great he finished cutting the front lawn least looking good for the pictures.  Next little job I asked him to plant the two trees that I had gotten.  He found an old shovel in the back yard, Tim had the trees where he wanted them Brian put the shovel in the ground and you guessed it the handle broke.  This 6' 4" big guy using the metal part of a shovel planting trees on the property known as the tree hater house (Tim's doing not mine).  Brian said very hastly Mom there is something not wanting you to sell this house maybe Dad and I need to go home to bed I am tired.  Back to my blog any ideas on improvement?  I need help, no not that kind of help.  Debbi

The house

The house is almost ready again.  Packing more, painting again, planting a couple of trees for the first time.  The pictures will be taken on Monday at 9:30 a.m. and the papers signed again on Monday night.  The house down the street sold so now we will be the only house on our street for sale.  Wish us luck.  I think that we have found a house we like even better than the log cabin (that sold about 1 month ago).  We have to wait and see.  I am waiting for the new embroidery designs that Margaret and I ordered on Monday to do some stitchouts.  I am also setting up the Designer Diamond Deluxe to play.  We also have a promotion on that if you sit down and have a demo on the Diamond you get a chance to win a Diamond necklace valued at $1199.00.  Don't forget to stop in and fill out the ballot.  Will back to packing.  Here I go again.

What can I say

Well what can I say we have decided to list our house again with a new agent.  We are back at it painting closet doors and scrapping off wall paper in our basement (mind you it about 20 years old so it owes us nothing) and it is coming off quite easily.  I not sure but, I might have found another house.  Tim will get to see it on Thursday at 5:30.  We have to be ready for pictures by Monday a.m.  I would like to welcome a few of people to our embroidery club with software.  Look out for Debbi's Discoveries they are coming soon.  We also have some new embroidery projects coming soon. as well.  I better get back to work before my husband decides that this is not worth it.  Talk to everyone in a couple of days.

The Old Spaghetti Factory here we come

Well Margaret and I have made it to the hotel without any incident.  The hotel is really nice.  Go figure I am spending Father's Day with Margaret and we are going to The Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner.  I have never been there before so I am looking forward to going.  While waiting for our reservation time we are watching the Courtship of Eddie's Father the really old version.  I am looking forward to learning more tomorrow on the new Diamond.  I have lots of questions for Doreen. One funny thing did happen imagine something happening to Margaret and I.  The fridge in the room is full of product and it is censored if you move it you have bought it.  Does not matter if you drink or eat it.  So I suggested that we fill up the bathroom sink with ice to put the diet coke and diet pepsi in the sink to get then cold.  Great idea huh well I used the washroom and wanted to wash my hands so next great idea use the taps in the bathtub turn the taps on and I got soak as the shower was turned on.  Explained what I had done to Margaret she laughed.  30 minutes later Margaret used the bathroom and guess what she got wet as well trying to wash her hands. Well The Old Spaghetti Factory was okay as our dinner was not as hot as it could be and I ended wearing more of the penne chicken on my T-Shirt than I wanted to.  After I digest I will be going to work out in the gym.  It is fun to have a treadmill that you can watch T.V with.  The screen is on the wall but there is a screen on the treadmill as it is monitoring her heart rate.  Will wish my luck with getting the answers to my questions tomorrow.  I will updating you tomorrow.  Debbi

Wednesday June 15, 2011

Well, what can we say Carolyn and I have hosted yet another Christmas Block of the Month for the Embroidery Club and it was a wonderful time.  Lots of laughs, tips and machine running quite well.  The Quilt is looking terrific.  I am really jealous as I have not had anytime to start and work on mine.  Hopefully when we decided what we are doing with our house.  The listing is officially done but, Tim and I have not decided what we are doing.  Are we moving or re-listing or are we adding a workspace.  Time will tell with that one.  I just wanted reminded everyone that there is a sale on the Robison Anton Embroidery thread pay for 5 spools and get 7.  We have our fat quarter sale on and I have in stock some Titanium Embroidery needles.  Tonight at the class we stitched out a heart using the titanium needles and two spools of thread and only one needle.  Yes I said one needle not a twin but just one.  I know Carolyn is not crazy.  These needles are making a huge difference with the specialy threads and no breakage.  I would use these needles on any project using a specialy thread.  For example a sliver thread in Candle wicking.  If you are having challenges use these needles.  Joan it sad to see that Boston has won the cup and not Vancouver.  Better luck next time.  Debbi

What can I say two posts in one day.

I have the titanium needles in now.  What a great success these needles are.  I have them in Embroidery and the Quilting.  I have put quite a few packages away for those who have asked for them.  I hope with your help that I will keep on track with the dates of the clubs.  (Not like the last time).  I have lots of great news.  I would like to welcome Karen to the Embroidery club.  Karen will be picking up her new Pfaff Embroidery machine on Monday.  She does not know what she is in for.  The other news is Sharon has decided to buy a Diamond and she is picking that up on Monday.  I am really excited for these two.  Let the lesson begin.  The other great news is Gudrun was in the store today for a class and has her embroidery quilt pieced together.  She has to put a border on it and then quilt it.  I guess I better start to quilt my and give some life.  (I find for me that the quilts come to life when they are quilted.)  I will be posting some pictures of Gudrun's quilt today or tomorrow.

Oh what fun we have

Margaret suggested that I post this as it is quite funny and yes I did put my foot in my mouth or should I say both feet.  We were hosting the embroidery recipe and the Christmas block of the month during the day and of course I told people different times for different things.  For example I told the recipe people the afternoon time and I told the Christmas block of the month the same time so I had two classes going at the sametime.  Well that was not bad as the machine embroidery classes are a little easier as the prep work takes more time than the stitching.  So everything was going well the recipe that I had prepared was good and we were having loads of fun and two more people have decided to come to another class.  Sharon decided that she wanted to particpate in the recipe class and Lynne decided to participate in the Christmas block of the month.  Great more ladies to have more fun.  I was explaining to Lynne about the Christmas club and I prepared her a binder etc and explain how I teach the class.  Lynne said that I have a fair amount of catching up to do when I said do worry how that you are retarded you can get caught up quite quickly.  Everyone started to laugh I then realized what I had said and oh great a good way to turn people off of my embroidery clubs.  Lynne took the comment in stride and was laughing just as much as everyone.  Thanks Lynne.

Another day what can I say

Hello everyone another couple of days have gone by and I am still trying to finish my jacket and I have decided and have finished ripping the front out to restitch the front.  I am still busy with lessons and machines which is good and when you are busy the time does go by fast.  The house has not sold as of yet today it has been  up two months so far.  (A reminder no dwelling).  I am getting Margaret to show me how to add pictures to this blog as I think they might be fun to see.  My design wall is not finished and I am still trying to work on it.  Well that is it for now and I will be back soon.

Yes Margaret you are working me to hard.

What can I say Margaret and I have decided to change the machine side around as the new Horn Cabinets have arrived.  We needed to see what they look like.  The space does look good.  Now that three more students have signed up for Carolyn and my Christmas Block of the Month we are very excited (you know it doesn't take much to get me excited) we have decided to do a design wall in our classroom that will host an array of ongoing projects from embroidery to jackets whatever we are working on. The next thing is getting it made.  Margaret is now a tweeter or tweeting and she has asked to me to join her.  I think me tweeting do I have the time with all my ideas.  However we did get a visit from Kelly and she has decided to tweet with Margaret.  Kelly is joining me in my Sulky course and has decided that it would be fun for us to tweet Margaret while we are away.  Only time will tell with that one.  Carol I hope you notice that I have done yet another post on this blog.  I think that I am starting to like it.  Now off to send more invites.  Debbi

Yes Tim did hit a Turkey

Yes as Margaret did post Tim did hit a Turkey on Monday early evening.  No he is not cooking it at home, no I am not eating the turkey, yes the vehicle has to get fixed and yes I am sick of Tim saying a turkey took out my truck.  Thanks Kelly for asking if Tim was okay we have decided that if he had taken the car which he was supposed to do there would have been more damage to the car than the truck.  So I guess that is a good thing.  Haily has decided that she is not sure about her favourite Uncle and she has post the pictures etc on facebook and keeps saying she is not related.  Hopefully Carol you will notice that I have posted two times in one day on my blog.  I hope to keep it up.  Debbi.  P.S. I have sent out invites for some people to follow my blog.

Boy does time fly by

I have to admit that I am not keeping up with my blog and I hope after a client (Carol) reminded me that I have not posted anything since January that maybe I better do something.  Well in the last couple of months we were in Florida for two weeks had a great time and not to mention the weather was terrific.  We have listed our house (in the hopes of getting a new studio space for you know who) with over 40 showings no offers yet I am going nuts, oh yea.  One of our clients informed me that listing your house is just a excuse to keep the bathroom clean and at this point I think that she might be right.  Enough about the house I do have some exciting news, a friend Kelly and I are taking a Sulky Class in July and we will be certified Sulky Teachers we can't wait.  (The only thing staff here say Debbi certified or certiable.)  Three days of projects without the embroidery machine (can't imagine that one) we will be thread painting and bobbin work etc. using sulky threads and stabilizers.  More exciting news is we are hosting Kerrin Brooks from B.C. Kerrin is a Pfaff and Husqvarna Educator and she will be working with 4D on Thursday June 2 on Friday June 3 we will be creating a Floral Rhaspsody that Kerrin has design herself and on Saturday June 4 she will be showing us how to turn line art or picture into stitches.  As well my husband Tim and I will be hosting Kerrin and her husband, talk about picking someone brain.  The class run from 10:00 - 4:00 each day and the cost is $75.00 per day.  If you don't have 5D and are thinking about it this is the class for you as we will install the program onto your laptop for you to try and if you are not ready to purchase we then remove the program from the laptop.  Carolyn and I are hosting a Christmas block of the month in the afternoons and in the evenings.  We are having a ball if you are interested let me know as there is still room for anyone.  Hopefully I will remember to post more notes and keep you posted on my new studio space.  (I know my daughter and son in law are looking for someone to buy our house so they can get their house and garage back.  The other thing is I have make sure that everything comes back as I am sure somethings might go missing. Hopefully you will hear from me more often.  It is Carolyn's birthday today so Happy Birthday Carolyn.  Debbi

January 17, 2010

I decided in July 2010 I should have a blog.  A couple of times I started working on it and didn't take the time to finish it well here is my first attempt.  Christmas is over and I need to get motivated in my work again.  I have decided for now anyway that I am working on a Christmas project for someone every month this year (I will let you know in the next few months how it goes).  I am getting really busy with trying to finish the samples for the classes, (well with the help of Carolyn).  I hope we will be  finished soon.  Tomorrow I hope to take some pictures and post them.  If you have any questions regarding Quilt & Stitch, Pfaff, Husqvarna or Babylock sewing or embroidery machines let me know.
